Skimming and Plastering in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow

Smooth walls and ceilings ready for a perfect finish.

A smooth wall is the base for every good paint job and it is skilled work. We carry out skimming, replastering and plasterboarding across Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow, whether it is one tired ceiling or a full house.

We repair cracks and damage, board out new spaces and skim over old surfaces so everything is flat, sound and ready to decorate. Most jobs are finished off with painting and decorating once the plaster has dried. Plastering is also a standard step in any home renovation where walls have moved, or after a bathroom has been stripped back to the blockwork.

Areas we cover. We plaster across Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow, taking in Drimnagh, Rathmines and Swords, out through Leixlip, Celbridge and Newbridge as well as Bray and Arklow.

Common questions

How long before I can paint new plaster?
New plaster needs to dry right through before paint goes near it, usually a few days to a week depending on the thickness, the room and the time of year. We will tell you when it is ready and what to put on as a mist coat first.
Can you skim over an old textured ceiling?
Often yes, once the surface is sound and prepared properly. If it is loose or in poor shape, boarding over it gives a better result. One important point: older textured coatings can contain asbestos, so if there is any doubt about the age we will tell you to have it tested before anyone disturbs it.
How much mess does plastering make?
Less than most people expect. We sheet up, protect the floors and clear as we go. It is wet work though, so the room will need airing and will not be usable for a day or two.
Can you just repair the cracks?
It depends what is causing them. Settlement cracks can often be cut out and filled. If a wall is covered in them, or the old surface is blown and hollow underneath, skimming the whole wall gives a better and far longer lasting result.
Do you cover my area?
We plaster across Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow. If you are just outside those counties get in touch and we will let you know if we can help.

If your walls need bringing back to life, we will get them smooth and ready.
