Bathroom Renovations in Wicklow

Built for damp coastal air and older stone properties.

Wicklow bathrooms fall into two camps. Coastal homes around Bray, Greystones and Wicklow town deal with damp air most of the year, so ventilation and waterproofing matter more here than almost anywhere else we work. Inland, the older cottages and converted farm buildings around Blessington, Rathdrum and Ashford tend to have solid stone walls, uneven floors and a bathroom that was added long after the house was built.

Both need a different approach to a standard suburban fit. On the coast we specify extraction that genuinely clears the room and seal the wet area properly, because damp air with poor ventilation is what turns new grout black within two years. In older stone properties we sort the floor build up and the wall surface before a single tile goes on, since tiling onto something uneven or damp is a repair waiting to happen. It is the same bathroom renovation service we run across Wicklow. Older properties often need plastering first. Wall and floor tiling then goes onto a surface that is genuinely ready for it.

Common questions in Wicklow

Our grout keeps going black. Can that actually be fixed?
Yes. It is one of the most common things we get called about in Wicklow. It is nearly always down to ventilation and how the wet area was sealed rather than how often it is cleaned. We fit extraction sized for the room and waterproof properly behind the tiles, which deals with the cause instead of the symptom.
Can you work in an older stone cottage?
Yes. Solid stone walls and uneven floors need preparing before anything is tiled, so we build up and level first. It adds a day or two to the job and it is the difference between tiles that sit right and tiles that crack along a line inside a year.
We are on a well. Will the water pressure suit a new shower?
It can be a factor and it is worth knowing before you choose one. We check the pressure and the flow rate at quote stage and tell you honestly which showers will perform on your supply, rather than fitting something that disappoints you every morning.
Do you cover the whole county?
We work right along the coast and inland, from Bray and Greystones down as far as Arklow and across to Blessington. If you are somewhere we have not named here, get in touch and we will tell you straight away whether we cover you.
